Uganda Government Launches Electronic Visas July 2016 e-permits/e-visa
Uganda Government Launches Electronic Visas July 2016 e-permits/e-visa, All visitors who require an entry visa to Uganda and do not yet have one, must apply through the online application system prior to arrival
The new system, which started functioning 01 July 2016, eliminates earlier bureaucratic procedures which were slow and tedious
You are required to upload clear copies of current passport, Yellow fever certificate and Passport photo.
On completion of the online application you will receive a bar coded email notification. Print out this email and bring it with you to Uganda.
Upon arrival at the airport or any border (entry point) you must present the bar coded email.
The immigration officer will scan the bar code, take your finger prints and photo and ask for the $100 cash payment for the visa. (Please note, Uganda only accepts USD bills dated 2006 or newer and in excellent condition).
All visa, permits and passes are approved within two( 2-3) working days, except in special circumstance where more documents and or verification may be required, however applicants are advised to apply at least 5 working days before their intended date of travel.
How it works:
Upon application one receives a notification with an application number which he/her can use to track the application
Upon approval of the application, the applicant receives an email notification detailing the steps to be taken with an attachment of the e-visa or e-permit approval/authorization to travel. The attachment should be printed and presented to Immigration Officers as proof that the e-visa/e-permit was approved.
In case the application is deferred, it can be sent back for amendment by the applicant or more documents requested by the processing Immigration Officer
Successful applicants for visa shall pay for the visas at the point of entry, the Uganda boarder of entry e-permits/e-visas shall be paid for in the relevant banks that collect Non Tax Revenue (ETR) for Uganda Revenue Authority
Please note that the introduction of the E-immigration system does not affect the fees and the legal requirements per category for obtaining a visa pass or work permit under the laws of Uganda
