Chimpanzee habituation in Uganda from Kigali

Chimpanzee habituation in Uganda from Kigali - Chimp Tracking in Kalinzu Forest

Opputunity for chimpanzee habituation in Uganda from Kigali

The top popular tourist activities in Uganda are chimpanzee habituation experience and trekking in Kibale Forest National Park, Kibale forest is a special forest in Uganda as it is one of the top places in the world with the highest population of chimpanzees, Kibale forest is also known as the best place where travelers and other visitors can do both chimpanzee trekking and take part in the Chimpanzee habituation process.

We are organizing chimpanzee habituation in Uganda from Kigali Rwanda so that tourists and other travelers in Rwanda can also get the opportunity to participate in the chimpanzee habituation experience process, habituation process makes chimpanzees get used to the presence of humans before the troop/community of chimps can be open for tourism, the process of chimpanzee habituation takes between 2 to 3 years to complete the habituation process depending on how the chips are getting used to the humans getting closer to them.

The standard chimpanzee trekking compared with Chimpanzee habituation in Uganda?

Comparing standard chimpanzee trekking with habituation experience, normal trekking gives tourists only one hour with the chimps while chimpanzee habituation experience gives tourists the opportunity to spend 4 hours with the chimps as they go through the habituation process under the guidance of researchers with well-experienced ranger guides, both trekking and habituation can be done throughout the year but there is a limit on the number of trekking permits issued per day so it is recommended to book in advance.

How and when to book Chimpanzee habituation in Uganda from Kigali

We do recommend to different travelers to book their chimpanzee permits in advance between six months to a year in advance and also book through a local tour operator, also take note that the chimpanzee habituation experience starts at 6:00 am morning daily once a day while normal trekking is done twice a day and the first session starts at 7:30an while the second session starts at 2:00 pm in the afternoon daily, both trekking and habituation experience are guided by experienced ranger/guides and researchers, park rangers know where to find chimpanzees by following clues left behind by the chimps.

Chimpanzees share 98% of their DNA with man which makes chimps the closest relative to humans, you will be amazed at how some habituated chimpanzees can easily identify the familiar individual faces of the park rangers simply because rangers visit them almost daily.

Usually, chimpanzees are more active in the morning as they get out of the bed (nests) as they head out for feeding, hunting and also go by their daily activities which makes the morning session the best because if you go for the afternoon session, you find most of them resting in trees, grooming each and also as they prepare to fresh nest for the night.

You will be escorted by an armed ranger whose work is to scare off other wild animals just in case you meet them along the way for example Buffaloes and elephants no one wants to meet them when walking on foot in the forest because sometimes they can pose a danger to you so armed ranger will scare shooting in the air so that they can move away and you continue with the trekking.

What do you need to Know about Chimpanzee habituation Experience?

Chimpanzee habituation is the process of allowing wild chimpanzees to get used to human presence through continuous daily visits led by researchers and experienced park rangers, Chimpanzee habituation process can take between 2 years to 3 years before they can get used to human presence, normally un habituated chimpanzee when they see humans, they get suspicious and flee away but by end of 2 years of habituation, there are already used to humans’ presence so that you can trek them freely before it is open for tourism.

The Chimpanzee permits price comparing normal trekking and habituation experience.

The price of a chimpanzee habituation experience permit is $250 per person for 4 full hours with un-habituated chimps that are undergoing the habituation process while a normal chimp trekking permit cost only $200 per person for one hour with chimps so the habituation permit price is slightly higher than normal chimpanzee trekking permit price yet with habituation experience you even get to spend more time with the chimps which means that u get better value for your money and better experience too because you have more time with them.

The normal chimp trekking, you trek a community of chimps that is already fully habituated while with habituation experience you spend 4 hours following wild un habituated chimps.
