Activities Gorilla Trekking Ruhija Bwindi Forest Uganda, after you have finished gorilla tracking in Ruhija Uganda you can also enjoy bird watching, Bwindi forest Ruhija sector is well known as a bird watchers haven with 348 species of birds.

Ruhija sector is one of the highlights of any bird watching safari tour in Uganda, birds of Ruhija are easy to see and many bird species are active throughout the day but it is always advised to start early for to get the best chance of finding the Red-faced woodland Warbler, Rwenzori batis, white-tailed crested Flycatcher, striking Handsome Francolin, Cinnamon-chested bee-eater, Western Green Tinkerbird, Mountain, yellow-streaked Greenbuls, and many more others.

You cannot do bird watching in Ruhija without visiting the Mubwindi swamp a rewarding steep mountain as you drop from 2400m to 2050m, birding in the bamboo zone is good for mountain Greenbul, duikers, warblers, dusky Crimsonwing, mountain Illadopsis, archers robin chat, stripe breasted tit, purple breasted sunbird, and many more

Ruhija Nature Village Walk

A village walk in the afternoon after gorilla tracking what the best way to spend your afternoon after seeing gorillas, this 3-hour cultural walk through the village, you get a chance of learning the ways and culture of the people who live around Bwindi forest Ruhija area on the edge of Bwindi Forest, this village Walk is guided walk by a friendly local guide and knowledgeable about local culture and other information you would like to know about.

As you walk through local communities you get a chance to see how local people make local crafts such as baskets with the most intricate designs, also how local beer is made from Bananas, and a distillery to a local Gin called Uganda Waragi made from Bananas, you can also visit traditional healers and learn how is gathered in the ancient forest and how it is used

It is also very interesting to visit local farms and see how the local foods and other products grown and how it’s locally done and harvested, enjoy the traditional dances from the local community, the experience is more of cultural learning and the cost of the walk is $10 per person for supporting the local community around Ruhija.
